How do you determine the amount of my classroom award?
An initial $50 classroom award is earned when the kits are sent home with students. The remaining classroom award amounts are determined by dividing the number of submitted Home Energy Worksheets by the number of kits delivered to you. If the resulting number is at least 80 %, the full classroom award amount is earned, an additional $150. Forms that are returned with no questions answered and duplicate forms are discarded and do not count towards the award.
How long will I need to wait for my classroom award?
- Classroom awards are processed after a teacher reaches 80 % of submitted Home Energy Worksheets or after the program deadline.
- You will receive an email to verify online entries every day there is a submission or when your mailed packet is received.
- Log in at pas.nef1.org/teacher-portal with the email address you registered under. This link is included in the emails from your scheduler for easy access. On this site you can see:
- Students whose forms you mailed in.
- The number of forms we are expecting from you based on the kits delivered to you and your current percentage returned.
- The award you have earned to date and the status of your award payment.
What are the rules for spending the award money?
Award funds can be used for any purpose the designated teachers choose that will benefit students.
When can we sign up for next year?
Teacher registration is always open. Use the registration link at the top of this page and be added to the first available program for which they qualify. Eligibility for Fall and/or Spring programs is determined by the utility service received by the school.
How can other teachers I know enroll?

Do you do these programs for other groups?
At this time, we can only provide PNM Innovation presentations and kits to high school classrooms in schools.
