FAQs

Mini-grant Information

How do you determine the amount of my mini-grant?

Mini-grant amounts are determined by dividing the number of submitted Home Energy Worksheets (paper or online equivalent) by the number of kits confirmed with the scheduler prior to the presentation. If the resulting number is at least 80 percent, the full mini-grant amount is earned. Home Energy Worksheet forms that are returned with no questions answered or duplicate forms are discarded and do not count towards the grant.

How long will I need to wait for my mini-grant?

  • Mini-grants are processed after a teacher reaches 80 percent of submitted Home Energy Worksheets or after the program deadline.
  • You will receive an email to verify online entries every day there is a submission or when your mailed packet is received.
  • Track your progress toward your award. Check the emails from your scheduler for easy access. On this site you can see:
    • Students who have submitted forms online.
    • Students whose forms you mailed in.
    • The grant you have earned to date and the status of your grant payment.

What are the rules for spending the grant money?

Grant funds or eGift cards can be used for any purpose the designated teachers choose. The check is made out to the school to ensure that funds will benefit students. If you need a check made out to the PTO or other organization, please contact tiffany.foland@nef1.org and let her know to make special arrangements for you.

Signing up for the program

When can we sign up for next year?

Teacher registration is always open. Click to register and be added to the first available program for which you qualify. Eligibility for Fall programs is determined by the utility service received by the school.

How can other teachers I know enroll?

Please feel free to share the program information enrollment website with colleagues!

Do you do these programs for other groups?

At this time, we can only provide Think! Energy Take Action! presentations and kits through fourth to seventh grade classrooms in schools. We can occasionally provide information and selected devices to other groups. Supplies of these additional materials are limited.
